Here are the 2026 Michigan Public Awards. These awards were received in 2026 for coverage in 2025.

Michigan Public reporter Sarah Cwiek has been selected as a winner of the 2026 Wade H. McCree Advancement of Justice Awards, sponsored by the Michigan Press Association Foundation. Sarah was honored for her two stories “New report on a wrongful conviction highlights old missteps, in hopes of preventing future mistakes” and “Another Detroit wrongful conviction lawsuit: "I've never seen a fabrication to this extent." Both stories were edited by Brett Dahlberg. This is Sarah’s fourth McCree Award.

Michigan Public has been recognized with multiple Broadcast Excellence Awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB). These awards were announced Thursday, April 2, 2026 during the MAB’s Broadcast Excellence Awards announcement show.

Michigan Public has been recognized with nine Excellence in Journalism Awards from the Detroit Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Michigan Public reporters received seven First Place awards, one Second Place award, and one Fourth Place award.

Michigan Public has been notified that April Baer, host of the station’s daily Stateside show, has been selected to receive a National Gracie Award as best local Public Media host (Radio - Non-Commercial Local).

These awards were announced Monday during the MAB’s live Broadcast Excellence Awards announcement show. During the show, it was announced that the station won eight “Best in Category” awards and four “Merit” awards. The station is also a finalist in two awards categories with the winners yet to be announced.
